Ohana @ random surry hills space

We decided to drop by one of the newer spaces in sydney - and were suitably impressed (unintentionally, though, as it seems we were actually in the wrong place!) Cool little whitewashed room with simple lighting and a friendly (if studenty) crowd.

We arrived expecting to hear the ambient electronica of aktion unit and moonmilk, though as we moved into vicinity it was clear we were mistaken!

ohana, to the north and hira hira played to a small but knowledgeable audience. we especially enjoyed the unkempt, discordant artrock stylings of ohana, who rocked out (and reminded us of more than a few bands we enjoyed around the turn of the century. god we’re old ;-) )

As always, enjoy the rest of our snaps. And we swear next time we go looking for bohemian grove we’ll actually find it!

btw if you came through a search engine to get here, this is NOT bohemian grove. But i swear we will get some pics up soon. ~ed

  1. Bohemian Grove is about 50 metres from Helen Rose. I think 3ofMillions is playing at BG soon.

  2. Don’t worry… even some of the bands playing at BG were confused and loaded into this space by accident!
You were at Helen Rose Shausberger Laboratorium.
BG is up the lane opposite and run by Abel from 3ofMillions/ Pure Evil Trio.

Thanks for sticking at this show though and the kind words that I stumbled on.
